Orcas Island Airport may host an Aviation training school starting this summer. EAA Young Eagles program / New Flyers should stop by at Orcas Island Airport for Young Eagles Day. June 8th, 2013 EAA’s event that offers free introductory flights to those 14 and older who would like to experience flying. This year’s event will co-incide with Truckapalooza, an annual event that also features bucket trucks, fire and rescue demonstration vehicles – some of the largest and most fun machines for young of any age.

Flying over the Pacific Northwest is one of the greatest events a person can experience. That is precisely why I chose to live here. I’ve become a commercial, instrument, multi-engine pilot, due in large part to the amazing sights one can enjoy from the air over the San Juan Islands. Views of Mt. Baker, the Olympics, the deep turquoise blue waters, bays and inlets, beaches and big-tree covered Islands, this is nothing short of the best area to fly over in the world.

Ground School is a great way to determine if the discipline and training involved in aviation is right for you. You may already know! Learn about:
